Biography

As a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), Marisa applies the functional medicine model to diagnosis and treatment. Using this integrated approach, Marisa combines the ancient wisdom of Traditional Oriental Medicine theory with the best twenty-first century biomarker testing. This comprehensive model seeks to address the root cause of disease, rather than symptom management.

Marisa examines the impact of dietary, emotional, environmental, and lifestyle factors on patient health. This coupled with relevant neuro-endo-immune (NEI) biomarker testing (i.e. food allergy, neurotransmitters, metal toxicity) allows for a complete diagnostic profile, targeted interventions that work, and embraces a whole system approach.

In her practice, Marisa focuses on patient-centered care, and in this way the patient becomes an active participant in the healing process. She empowers her patients to embrace healthy habits that result in long-term health benefit.

A graduate of Smith College, Marisa pursued her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine(MSTOM) at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (NY). She is nationally board certified in Acupuncture, Herbology, and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture Physician in Florida. In addition, she has completed certifications in Cancer Care Acupuncture by Memorial Sloan Kettering NY, Nutrition by Institute for Integrative Nutrition, and BodyTalk- PaRama level practitioner.
