Biography

Karen Gana, PhD, MS, LAc is a NY State Licensed Acupuncturist and Diplomat of the NCCAOM. She has a PhD in Anatomical Sciences, and has been an anatomist at biomedical and professional schools for over 30 years. She pursued acupuncture as a second career, her inspiration and impetus being how her chronic low back pain and sciatica was resolved. She wanted to know how it worked.

Karen holds a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from Fingerlakes School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Seneca Falls, NY. She is currently pursuing herbal studies in Ayurveda and Chinese Medicine. She is certified in the use of tuning forks for acupuncture and sound healing, and is dabbling in the energies and application of crystals.

Her clinic is varied and include infertility, arthritis, musculoskeletal problems like sciatica, frozen shoulder, tennis and golf elbow, asthma, anxiety, depression, smoking cessation, and sleep disorders to name a few. She thoroughly enjoys the puzzle of diagnosis, providing acupuncture, moxa, and guasha, and providing guidance with diet and lifestyle recommendations. She is adept at topical applications of liniments, herbs, and essential oils which allow the patient self-care after their visit.

In her free time, Karen enjoys qigong and tennis. Karen loves animals and has many cats, 2 dogs, and is a bird aficionado with many feeding spots in her yard. She has recently taken up gardening and is utilizing native plants.
