Biography
My appreciation for alternative medicine began with my own health issues. For years, I had been suffering from lingering knee and shoulder pain, relying on strong pain medications to see me through. Hoping for a better option than a lifetime of pills, I turned to acupuncture and Chinese medicine and soon found relief.
The experience was a turning point for me, both in my approach my own health and in my career. Having worked in research libraries for over 20 years in Iran and the United States, I decided to pursue a degree in Chinese medicine. That came as surprising news for my friends and family, many of whom were doctors, but I was committed to pursuing this new passion.
While working full-time during the day, I spent my nights attending classes at South Baylo University. Within four years, I had graduated, passed my board exam and received a license to practice as an acupuncturist and herbalist. I opened Green Wellness Acupuncture in 2009 and have since helped hundreds of patients find an alternative path to health.
