Biography

Dr Tom Yarema is a pioneering physician…passionately committed to bridging the best of all systems of Medicine and delivering practical, cost-effective solutions to his patients.
Among the early physicians who established the specialty of Emergency Medicine in the US during the early 80??s, he appreciated Allopathy??s triumph in acute, life-threatening conditions, as well as its failings in reversing chronic, lifestyle-related disease.

To address this need, in 1995, he founded the first multi-disciplinary, cash-based primary care practice in Hawaii, the Kauai Center for Holistic Medicine and Research. After recruiting the husband & wife team of Drs. Suhas & Manisha Kshirsagar, they co-founded the state??s first wellness-based para-professional school, the Aloha Ayurveda Academy, matriculating over 150 students in 4 years.

At age 41, the sudden diagnosis of type 2 diabetes with no conventional risk factors motivated him to bridge Ayurveda, Traditional Oriental Medicine, and Western Biochemical Nutrition to find his own cure.
The eventual outcome was not only successful disease reversal, but also the selfpublication of a 7-time, national award-winning patient guidebook & cookbook: EATTASTE- HEAL. Now in its 9th printing, it has become a foundational resource for Ayurveda & Yoga-based nutrition and lifestyle coaches around the world.

He is the current Medical Director of Center for Wellness & Integrative Medicine, Soquel, CA, past National Director of Clinics and Wellness Centers for Kerala Ayurveda in the US, co-formulator and Scientific Advisory Board member for nutritional wellness products selling more than $250M worldwide, a sponsor study monitor for animal studies of meal supplements demonstrating benefit in apraxic and autistic children, a international largestage presenter on health & wellness, and the creator of an internet-based educational program utilizing nutrition and lifestyle for the reversal of diabesity/metabolic syndrome.
When not working, he enjoys with his wife the household chaos of two children and one foster child, occasionally retreating into the solitude of ocean waves and old-growth redwoods surrounding Santa Cruz, California.
